An extra club night has been scheduled for Wednesday 8th February at St John’s. All four courts will be available. A reminder has been added to the online calendar.

In the previous update you may have noticed a reference to a Ladies’ away match vs. Swindon B on 30th March 2012. This is a new fixture so ladies, please add it to your diaries. If you subscribe to the online calendars, it has been added for you.

Also, a note that the 2010/2011 results page has recently been updated.

New venue for Swindon BC away matches.

Swindon BC have announced that they have changed venue for Friday night matches. They will now take place at Cricklade Leisure Centre, SN6 6JW, starting at 19:15.

The matches affected are:

2012-01-13 Mixed A away vs. Swindon B

2012-03-02 Mixed A away vs. Swindon A

2012-03-30 Ladies’ away vs. Swindon B.

If you subscribe to the online calendar feeds, refresh them as the timings have been updated for you and a note has been added to remind you of the changed venue.

End of Season Tournament and Christmas Hamper

The last club night of the year will be held on Monday 12th December at St. Johns.

As in previous years, the Club will run a tournament and a raffle for the hamper, further details will be sent out and published on-line during the next couple of weeks. Donations for the hamper will be collected by Iain, Julie and Mary shortly.

Winter Season

The Winter Season for the Club has now started therefore matches are now imminent. If you haven’t dusted off the cobwebs from your racquet then now is the time to do it and to head down to St. Johns for club night and match practice. The first matches of the season will be on Wednesday 21st September and will feature our Mixed A and C teams at home and our Mixed D team away.

Please note that there is no club night on Mon 19th September.

New Rules for 2011/2012 Season

At the SDBA AGM in May, the League passed the rule to introduce extended play at 20-20 instead of the sudden death rule of first to 21. This now means that if the score becomes 20-20, the side which gains a two point lead first shall win that game. If the score becomes 29-29 then the side scoring the 30th point shall win that game.

There was also a change to starting times, basically sides now have 15 minutes to start the match instead of the 20 minutes as before.

Summer Club Starts in July

It’s time to put away your brollies and pick up your racquet again as the Summer Club starts on Wednesday 6th July at 19;30.

Cup Matches at Home – Monday 7th March and Monday 18th April

On Monday 7th March, two courts will be taken from 19:00 due to the playing of the semi-final of the Wilson Lee Trophy against Swindon BC.

On the 18th April, two courts will be taken from 19:30 for a County League match against Freshford St Georges of Trowbridge, please note that the club night has been extended until 22:00 to help compensate for the lack of available courts.
